Maid Of Honour Sample Wedding Toast Speech

The brain is a wonderful thing. It never stops working from the time you are born until the moment you start to make a speech. For those of you who do not already know me, my name is Michelle, and I am a friend of Jamie's.

Brian, as some may know is quite the history buff and has acquired the nickname "Captain Cunuck", dazzling everyone with his knowledge of Canadian facts while playing Trivia Pursuit styles games. It is this love of knowledge and history that allows me to speak of August 3, 1492. This is the day that Columbus set sail from Italy. Although that was a little over 500 years ago, much of what transpired since then has a great deal of relevance today - as we share in the vows Jamie and Brian made to one another.

For those who slept through World History Class, Columbus was an explorer who convinced the King of Italy to invest in Columbus' business adventures to find a new, quicker trade route to China for precious silks and spices. Upon his departure Columbus took with him three ships (The Nina, The Pina and the Santa Maria.). While his adventure altered the course of history, his travels weathered many storms as well as many celebratory milestones. He landed not only fame but respect from the old world and praise form his colleagues.

Like Columbus, Brian too owed her majesty Jamie, to pursue Brian in a union nor for the sake of business but of love. Both the bride and the groom have prepared for some time for this momentous day. August 3, 2002 will be a day that does down in history as the day that Jamie and Brian have set sail on their new voyage together discovering "virgin" land untouched by time or space, testing both familiar and unfairly waters as well as celebrating their conquests together.
